Coming Home

We broke up our trip home with a visit with Josh and Sarah in Jersey City.  After some yummy pizza, we let the kids run free in the playground after being cooped up in the car all day.  They had a blast!
Ben said, "I can't believe I'm seeing real-live basketball!!!"

Cutie slept with us. :)  Josiah and Benjamin enjoy playing Josh's "Ice Age" game while we visit.
Josh and Sarah, our city-fied friends.
You can't see it here, but there is a space shuttle on this air-craft carrier in NYC!
The kids were excited to wrestle with Papa when we got home to Maine.  Abigail participated from a safe distance.
The boys were thrilled with their new Angry Bird shirts  from Grandma when they got back.

Giddyup!

The boys had made a special request to go horseback riding while we were visiting family in NC, so one afternoon we took them over to a cousin's house where they spent two hours circling around and around on this very good-natured horse.  Josiah had come prepared with his holster, sheriff's badge and cowboy hat. :)  Abigail had been off shopping with Aunt Marcia and Cousin Rebecca, so when she showed up, she was clamoring to have a turn.  Once we put her on the horse, we couldn't get her off!  She threw a terrible fit when it was time to go!

Having Fun on the Farm

I'm trying to get caught up here with pictures from our trip to NC.  Here are a few more shots of the kids doing what they love most: riding tractors and "helping" Papa on the farm:

Rebecca's Graduation Pig Pickin' Party

The pig went on the cooker at 7:30 a.m.

Barry and Marcia hosted a pig pickin' in honor of Rebecca's high school graduation.  You would have thought that the Hobbs were running a regular event with how smoothly all of the preparations went!  Tables, decorations, and food for 80 people, all rolled out without any sign of stress or tension.  Quite remarkable!  Everyone had a great time and it was a lot of fun to see so many friends and family come out to celebrate Rebecca's achievements.

Cooked to perfection!

Logan, Jared and Josiah parked the cars as the guests arrived.  This is Logan's Aunt Viola and Uncle Leonard.
You can see Uncle Barry and Rebecca working the crowd. :)

Uncle Lou, Aunt Pat, and Lou's son Steve's family
There was BBQ, coleslaw, stewed potatoes, green beans and rolls for over 80 people.  And it was GOOD!

The Graduate and the Proud Mama
This one got out of sequence...The Master of Ceremonies greeting everyone and saying the blessing before the meal.
Aunt Barbara and Uncle T.E.
Aunt Lucy with Benjamin.  The boys were pretty good until the end of the party, when they got into a brawl on the front lawn, out-of-sight of all the adults.
Aunt Marcia made two big cakes, one yellow and one chocolate.
Jared is getting so grown up!
All but one of the Perry siblings made it to the party!
The kids were bushed!

I snapped a picture of Rebecca's senior portrait:

Rebecca's Graduation

Our trip to NC was in honor of Rebecca's high school graduation, so I would be remiss not to share photos of the beautiful graduate!  Rebecca is a very hard-working and talented young woman with a bright future ahead of her.  We're proud of you, dear!  Logan thought his sister Marcia and brother-in-law Barry looked like they had been to a funeral rather than a celebration.  I can't imagine what it must feel like for a parent to watch their child shift into adulthood.

Josiah and Ben were happy to attend the Baccalaureate service on Sunday.  Rebecca sang two of her own songs during the service.
