Spring Trip - Part 3

Part 3 - Fun on the Farm

Josiah and Benjamin were in "John Deere Heaven" at Papa's house in NC! They weren't happy being cooped up in the house when there were tractors, cows, and Huckleberry Finn adventures waiting outside. When Josiah wants a lot of something, he uses the number five. Everyday he kept asking, "Can we stay here for five weeks?" Here are some pictures of the boys cavorting outside with their Papa:

Spring Trip - Part 2

Part 2 - Virginia

Logan's sister, Marcia, is a school teacher who had spring vacation the week following Easter. We planned our trip so that we could all go to their grandparents homeplace in Virginia for a couple days to sort through the workshop. Logan, Marcia, her kids Rebecca and Jared, and Logan's mom, grandmother and aunt all pitched in to help, while I tried my best to keep Josiah and Benjamin entertained and out of the way. This was not so hard to do! They had a wonderful time in the summer-like weather, digging up the driveway, creating large puddles of water to splash around in, playing on the riding lawn mowers and in Great Papa's truck, etc.
All ten of us stayed overnight, so the crew spent two full days hauling furniture, gardening tools, garbage, etc. away. I think there were 14 or more truck loads! Logan's cousin Jesse helped out tremendously carrying away recycables. He also brought a dozen warm, gooey Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which were a big hit. :)

The boys took turns riding with Rebecca while she cut the grass until Jared took over. And Tuesday afternoon, Daddy thrilled the boys with a water fight! They were only OK about leaving VA when we told them Papa need their help in NC with the "big John Deere tractor."

Spring Trip - part 1

We got back eight days ago from our spring vacation, and we're still recovering from the jetlag of all-nighters on the road and trying to get unpacked and back into a regular routine. I've been wanting to document our trip on the blog but have been feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the pictures I took, and all of the people and places we visited along the way. I'm going to give a much abbreviated account, in several parts.

Part 1 - Easter weekend.

We left home Friday night, April 2nd, after a stressful day of trying to pack while being interrupted every other minute by two boys who were in an impressive state of excitement and nervous energy. We arrived at Logan's parents in NC at 9:15 Saturday morning, and immediately shuffled the boys off to an Eggstravaganza with their Grandma, Great Grandma and Aunt Marcia:

While the boys had a blast with the egg hunt, crafts, face painting, music and games, Logan and I took a glorious nap. Sunday was Easter (I posted cute pictures in a previous post), and after church we went to Marcia and Barry's for a delicious dinner followed by a birthday cake for Aunt Emily, who turned 79 April 2nd:

After lunch, the boys headed outside with their cousin Jared while I took another nap. :) Benjamin especially enjoyed learning how to skateboard! A long, eventful day ended with another egg hunt at Grandma's house before bedtime. The boys enjoyed their first Easter in NC!

Dressed to Impress

Here are some pictures of the boys from Easter Sunday: Here comes Peter Cottontail!

Josiah doth protest the photo shoot.

I caught a smile!

The family.
We've been visiting our North Carolina family since April 3rd, so I'll have many more pictures to come, sometime after we get home next Sunday. We're in NC until Wednesday morning, when we head to DE to visit Matthew's family and Jonathan, and then PA on Friday to attend Jen's wedding and stay with Clay and Larissa. The boys are in John Deere Heaven, enjoying the warm weather and new stimuli. I don't have time for a full report yet, so come back next week for the full story! :)
